Just Mackenzie: Remi’s 5th Birthday

Call me a crazy dog lady but I throw my baby girl birthday parties and…  She loves them!  Why wouldn’t I want to celebrate her birthday?  There are so many reasons I am blessed to have Remi in my life- She always wakes up happy, she loves me regardless of what I look like or how I act, she forgives fast and she finds joy in the little things…  Wait, she finds joy in EVERYTHING.  So, in honor of her big day she had a party complete with “ice cream”, cookies, and cupcakes- all dog friendly.  Her friends Stewie and Porter joined her as well.  Check out the pictures below and the recipe for Carrot Peanut Butter Cupcakes and Sweet Potato Bacon “Ice Cream”.

Dog Friendly Carrot Peanut Butter Cupcakes

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 egg
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes
  • Optional frosting with peanut butter or mashed potatoes

Dog Friendly Sweet Potato & Bacon “Ice Cream”

  • Bake a sweet potato in oven until soft
  • Take out all the insides and mix with a small amount of honey
  • Put in fridge for 1 hour or until hard
  • Take out of fridge and make into balls of desired size
  • Roll balls in panko breadcrumbs and chopped up bacon

Special thanks to my AMAZING mother for baking the special doggy treats!  The cookies you see in photos are from Petco and are available in their bulk bins.  And, they are delicious.  Yes, I have tried them.

Wedding: Kenzi & Ryan

April and I had a great time with Kenzi & Ryan at their wedding!  But, honestly, who does not love a bride who has a flask tucked away in her garter?  This country wedding was held at Postlewait’s in Canby, Oregon.
